COLOR

Though the majority of diamonds appear to be colorless, they are not. There are many shades differences although subtle. Diamonds with no color or very close to no color is considered very rare and valuable.

Variances in color com from Natures elements, such as Nitrogen and Boron. These elements are incorporated into the diamonds anatomy during the creation phase.

These elements are the reason for color or lack of color in a diamond. The closer to colorless the more rare. Diamonds with strong color, called "Fancies",can be red, blue, yellow, pink, purple, are the most rare and consequently more valuable.

Most gem diamonds, seen individually, appear to be colorless. However they do have at least some indication of color - this is normally yellow or brown due to minute amount of nitrogen.
